  • Jumpstart

Jumpstart advances equitable learning outcomes for young children in underserved communities by recruiting and supporting Lehman students to deliver high-quality programming to children and drive systems change through teaching, advocacy, and leadership. The organization recruits and trains college students and community members to serve as “Corps Members” who work with preschool-aged children. Jumpstart’s programs typically involve implementing language, literacy, and social-emotional development activities to enhance the early learning experiences of children. By engaging in one-on-one interactions and small group activities, Jumpstart aims to build essential skills in young learners.

  • Americorps

Formerly known as VISTA, Americorps is a national network of hundreds of local community service programs. Americorps’ purpose is to encourage American citizens to volunteer their time and energy towards solving continuing and/or emerging challenges to their local communities in the areas of education, public safety, human needs, and the environment. Americorps participants promise to volunteer one year of community service. In return, they receive a modest living allowance. Volunteers, at the end of their service, are eligible to receive an education award of $4725. Part-time participants are eligible to receive a partial award. This award can be used to help pay for a variety of college expenses such as tuition, and fees. It can also be used to repay outstanding student loan balances.

  • Futures in Finance (FIF)

CUNY Futures in Finance (FIF) is a workforce development initiative at the City University of New York in collaboration with financial firms such as Bloomberg LP, Centerbridge Partners, and Goldman Sachs. The program is designed to cultivate and train CUNY students for careers in the financial industry. FIF provides students with training, mentorship, and access to the financial services sector, offering a competitive edge in one of New York City’s prominent employment sectors.

  • Teaching Fellows

Teaching Fellows is a program that involves around 200 new GTFs each fall from 31 doctoral programs at the Graduate Center, and they teach their first college courses at one of CUNY’s eleven senior colleges. The courses are primarily designed by GTFs entering their second year of doctoral study. GTFs commit to teaching for at least six semesters, and many continue to teach additional courses as adjuncts at CUNY in subsequent years.

Mayor’s Office Internship Programs in New York City is an exciting opportunity for individuals to engage with and contribute to the dynamic and diverse landscape of the city.   • Internship to Employment (i2E)

Internship to Employment (i2E) connects NYC small businesses with CUNY students to convert internships to employment. I2E’s summer 2024 cohort has two opportunities for CUNY students to participate. I2E Juniors is an 8-week Internship for current CUNY students who plan to apply for Fall 2024 classes with a minimum of 60 credits, a minimum 2.5 GPA, and no previous paid internship experience. I2E’s 12-week Internship for recent or upcoming CUNY alumni who must have graduated with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from a CUNY school between December 2022 – May 2024.

 

The deadline to apply is 2/9/24.

 

The criteria for I2E Juniors:

– Currently a CUNY Student and plan to enroll in Fall 2024 classes

– Have completed a minimum of 60 credits and have declared a major for a field of study

– Have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher

– Have no prior paid internship experience during your college career

– Able to complete the 8-week internship

– Able to work 35 hours per week during the 8-week internship

 

The criteria for I2E Alumni :

– Must be a graduate with an associate or bachelor’s degree from a CUNY school between December 2022 – May 2024

– Not be entering a Bachelor’s or Masters’s program in Fall 2024

  • CUNY Career Launch

CUNY Career Launch offers internships for students with no previous paid internship experience, with a focus on recruiting first and second-year students.  With a CUNY Career Launch internship, you are paid to explore your future career and learn on the job! Internships run for 9 weeks from Early July to late August. Interns make $20 an hour and work for 19 hours per week.

The criteria for CUNY Career Launch:

– Within the ages of 18-24 years old

– No prior paid internship experience during your college career

– A current CUNY undergraduate student enrolled in Spring ’24

– Have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher

– Are eligible to work in the United States

– Interested in one of the following career fields: Marketing, communications, or public relations; Science, technology, engineering, or environmental preservation; Community services, non-profits, or social services; Neighborhood Mobilization; Education; Healthcare

NYCLS is revving up its internship program for recruitment this summer (Summer 2024). Students who apply within the next month (April) or so have the highest likelihood of finding placements for the summer.

NYCLS has recently hired Campus Ambassadors (CAs) who are CUNY alumni who have gotten internships and are now working in NYC’s life sciences tech sector. These CAs are here to spread the good word and increase the chances of students securing internships + jobs.
